It's so easy to be inspired by fine art! I love going to museums all over the world and browsing classic works. One of my favorites is Henri Matisse, a modern artist in the early 20th century. His early paintings were classic impressionist style still lifes but eventually he began simplifying and flattening forms. He also had a famous series of collage works that used cutout shapes in abstract forms.
Man Ray was also a modern artist, known to be more abstract and surreal. He did paintings as well as photography.
The following pieces I created with inspiration from both artists, drawing from their studies of the female form and especially the cutout collages from Matisse. Can you see the inspiration within these pieces?
